How does it work?

Collagen Induction Therapy

Microneedling uses small, stainless-steel needles to pierce the skin in a controlled and precise pattern forcing your body to increase production of collagen & elastin - the building blocks of healthy skin which diminish as we age.

Microneedling is effective on multiple areas of the body including but not limited to the face, neck, chest, scar tissue, abdomen, pigmentation and more.

  • Avoid alcohol and caffiene 24 hours before treatment. Do not use retin-a products or applications 24 hours prior to your treatments. We cannot microneedle sunburned skin - it is best to avoid lasers and prolonged sun exposure for 1 week before treatment. On the day of treatment, please keep your face clean and do not apply makeup. If active or extreme breakouts occur prior to treatment please consult our team. To prep your skin for treatment and speed up healing you should ensure you’re using a growth factor product.   • Immediately after your microneedling appointment, you will look as though you have a moderate to severe sunburn and your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual. This is normal and will subside after 1-2 hours and will normally recover within the same day or 24-48 hours. You may see redness after 24 hours but this mainly occurs in small areas or if you had a peel on top (powerpen treatment).

  • For optimum results we suggest adding the SkinMedica Procedure 360 System™ Power Duo. Use the Post Procedure Repair Complex first after cleansing on clean, dry skin. Gently massage a liberal amount onto the affected area as needed. Following that, apply Restorative Ointment to the treated area after Post Procedure Repair Complex. TNS Ceramide cream by SkinMedica will keep your skin hydrated throughout your healing and don’t forget to finish with broad-spectrum SPF (at least SPF 30) with a PA rating of ++++.

  • It is imperative use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 and PA rating of ++++ to ensure full protection from the sun. Don’t forget to reapply every 2 hours or immediately after sweating or swimming.

  • Patients with hypersensitivity to the sun should take extra precautions to guard against exposure immediately following the procedure as they may be more sensitive following the microneedling. In addition to wearing SPF 30+ sunscreen, you should do your best to avoid direct sunlight for 24 hours after your microneedling, and 7 days if you get a peel (powerpen) treatment.

  • Your skin may be more red than usual for 24-48 hours. Please avoid strenuous exercise during this time.

  • Microneedling activates your body’s natural cellular regeneration to help tighten and rejuvenate skin, while minimizing many common skin problems. Microneedling significantly increases the production of collagen and elastin to leave the skin smoother, fresher, and more uniform. Micro channels also create micro injuries which causes the body to send blood and growth factors to the area resulting in glowing, healthy skin.

  • One of our most popular treatments is Estima Powerpen. This is the microneedling treatment with a chemical peel on top. This option is available for Estima patients, along with adding Botox infusion, Sculptra infusion or even microneedling platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) into your skin.

  • PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) Microneedling is the second generation of Platelet rich Plasma (PRP). PRF is spun at a slower speed than PRP, so there is less trauma to the cells which allows for more stem cells to remain. Make sure you’re hydrated at least 3 full days prior to treatment! We will draw your blood, spin it in the centrifuge, harvest your PRP and then microneedling it directly into your skin. Because your own white blood cells, stem cells, and growth factors are used - healing time is drastically decreased with this treatment.
